Come learn how to Tame Your Pleats with Catherine Scholar!

Are you intimidated by the intricate pleating on 18th and 19th century gowns?  Reluctant to start what looks like an endless project?  We can help!

Join us and make your own pleater board.  Once that’s done we’ll learn how to use it, and practice using household objects to make beautiful pleated trim.

We’ll also take a close look at how to replicate the intricate layered pleats on Victorian gowns.  You’ll leave ready to take your next gown to the next level!

Workshop fee: $90 including all materials required.  Students bring sewing machine, sewing tools, and thread.  More detailed information will be sent after you sign up.

About the instructor: Catherine Scholar read “Little House on the Prairie” at age five and has been obsessed with historic clothing ever since. She learned to sew at her mother’s knee and to embroider at her grandmother’s. In high school she discovered vintage dance, the Northern Renaissance Pleasure Faire, and Dickens Fair, and was amazed to learn that she could combine her passions for dance, costume, history and theater. Catherine has taught for many years for Costume College and the Greater Bay Area Costumers Guild (GBACG) and served on the GBACG board of directors for over a decade.
