Come make a bustle bodice with Catherine Scholar!

Up your bustle game by augmenting a Truly Victorian bodice pattern with authentic 19th century dressmaking techniques.  We’ll cover measurements, pattern adjustments, period sewing techniques, trimming, boning, and much more.  This class is for intermediate or advanced sewists.

There will be a companion skirt workshop in early 2020.  Registration is separate; you can take one workshop or sign up for both.

Students will need to bring all sewing tools, supplies for their bodice, a Truly Victorian bodice pattern dated 1870-1889, and the appropriate undergarments.  A supply list, Truly Victorian coupon code, and list of appropriate patterns will be sent to paid students.  Washable fabrics will need to be washed and pressed in advance of class.

About the instructor: Catherine Scholar read “Little House on the Prairie” at age five and has been obsessed with historic clothing ever since. She learned to sew at her mother’s knee and to embroider at her grandmother’s. In high school she discovered vintage dance, the Northern Renaissance Pleasure Faire, and Dickens Fair.  Catherine has taught for many years for Costume College and the Greater Bay Area Costumers Guild (GBACG) and served on the GBACG board of directors for over a decade.

$120 for two days of instruction.
